sometimes i wonder how our government thinks. I'm a student in the school of mines and i don't see any form of sponsorship from the mining companies apart from sponsoring students, selectively. if KCM could give the school 3billion instead of faz, they wouldn't need to hire ignorant Indians from another continent. if all the mining companies could come in and support the school by buying equipment, vehicles, books, computers and pay our lecturers salaries, then i believe they would never need to import labourers. these are simple issues. they can declare these contributions when declaring taxes so they don't make a loss. hon lungwagwa, whatever his name is, is in my opinion, not capable of running that ministry. he needs to form a ministry for mental disability and blindness, because he is best placed to tackle such issues

It will be ludicrous for Zambia to fall for the IMF financing again after the pain Zambians went through for so long. The Zambian Government should not have short memory about what the IMF and World Bank did to Zambia by virtue of ill-advising Zambia to sell all the Mines and Industries for "peanuts". It would be folly indeed to hear that the government is going ahead to get IMF financing. All reasonable Zambian should reject those overtures from the IMF because they are so designed to entrap Zambia. When live outside Zambia and read about what's going on in Zambia, it's saddening to see how easy Zambian politicians get duped by the so called International Monetary Fund. For once Zambia's economist and finance experts should provide good analysis of the long-term implications of a $150million. This amount will, in a very short time and because of the interest payable, the amount to be owed to the Fund will soon become unserviceable.

Zambia has a wonderful natural environment and everything should be done to protect it.I am glad to see politicians doing something to prevent the rape of the land by unscrupulous operators.The firm should be closed down until they act on Ms Chikoti's orders. I see they "noted" the lack of protective clothing. A firm that doesnt care about its own workers probably couldnt care less about local children.

The problem we have in Zambia is the apathy of the Zambian. Zambians still allow foreigners to insult and exploit them in their own country. There is also more tribalism in Zambia than we admit. This has been allowed by the current president. It appalling to see how Zambians sit sit idle as Mwanawasa keeps humiliating the Bemba people. It's a shame

The sentiments in the so called 'backing' seems a little conditional and Teasing. This makes some of us doubt the integrity of most of the so called developed nations. UK should realize that despite our country not being up to speed with their form of development, we are also relatively well equiped with suitably trained and educated Zambian Nationals who can't wait to be in the driver's seat of such projects. One thing they tend to forget is that their countries have been built by the African sacrifice and wealth. "Regime, regime"...,what a song; the current Zambian generation is the right Regime.
